Somerset Independents has now published the names and details of three councillors on North Somerset Council who persistently did not pay their council tax for months or even over years.
We have asked every North Somerset councillor for comment on the recalcitrant councillors.
Councillor Dr Karin Haverson, who is a Green Party councillor and is now Chairperson of North Somerset Council, has reassured us and welcomed our investigation:

Councillor Dr Karin Haverson |
"I welcome your efforts to highlight the behaviour of all of us councillors, but can assure you that I have never been in Council Tax arrears, neither before nor after I became a councillor. I am a retired scientist and have never been in business, and it would go against my principles to withhold money from the public purse.
Best wishes
Dr Karin Haverson
Councillor Banwell & WinscombeChairperson of North Somerset Council"
Earlier this year, Councillor Haverson requested at Full Council, which she chairs, that she be addressed as "Chairperson".
