UPDATED (9/6/22): Even National Media Are Confused - Boris Johnson Vote of No Confidence - Somerton and Frome Suspended Tory MP David Warburton DID NOT VOTE!

Warburton a FAKE Independent

UPDATED (9/6/22): The Mirror agrees with our assessment of David Warburton, although even their assessment contradicts itself by saying that he is a "Con" but that he is not a Conservative MP! They say his Vote was "N/A".

The Mirror's Search Facility on How Tory MPs Voted

So we have been kept in the dark by David Warburton. 80,000+ residents have been kept in the dark, and even national media are confused.

---

RESULT (6/6/22):

For:

211 (58.8%)

Against:

148 (41.2%)

All 359 members of the Conservative Parliamentary Group of MPs voted. At the time of the vote, David Warburton was still shown as an "Independent" MP.

We asked Somerton and Frome Conservative Association to confirm whether David Warburton would be voting. After a long wait, they told us:

"David Warburton remains the MP for Somerton and Frome. However, having had the Conservative Whip removed, he is not currently a member of the Conservative Parliamentary Party."

To which we replied:

"Thanks for the response. It doesn't answer whether he will be voting or not, though."

After another prompt from Andrew Pope, Leader of Somerset Independents, they said:

"We cannot provide an update on the voting intentions of the independent member of Parliament because he remains suspended by the Parliamentary Party having had the whip withdrawn."

So we checked whether Warburton was part of the 359 members of the Conservative Group of MPs.

According to the Parliament website, he was still an "Independent" (we see him as a fake independent).

There was no update from David Warburton's website. His Twitter feed remains deleted.

So we can only assume that Warburton did not vote from the above, but we do not know for sure.

We have provided this information for the 80,000+ voters in the Somerton and Frome Constituency, because we stand up for residents and we think they should know that because of the investigations into his conduct, that their MP David Warburton could not vote on the future of Boris Johnson.

Andrew Pope responds:

Andrew Pope

"So David Warburton hasn't even informed the Somerton and Frome Conservatives. It is a totally outrageous situation. Not only has Warburton not represented his constituents' views. He has not even informed his Conservative colleagues in Somerset. Warburton must resign. Boris Johnson must resign too."

UPDATE: An "Explainer" article has now been published here on the Somerset Independents website.

Meanwhile, we have obtained via the Deputy Political Editor of ITV News, a copy of an email regarding proxy voting.

Proxy Voting in Johnson Confidence Vote

So will David Warburton be allowed to vote, after all?

Nobody seems to know for certain...

---

Between 6pm and 8pm on Monday 6th June 2022, there will be a vote of no confidence by Conservative MPs on Boris Johnson being their Party Leader. Somerton and Frome MP David Warburton will not be voting on it.

As reported by Local Democracy Reporter Daniel Mumby "since the whip remains withdrawn from him".

The UK Parliament website clearly shows David Warburton as an "Independent" MP, not as a Conservative. The following image was taken at 1021 hours on 6th June 2022, the day of the vote.

Leader of Somerset Independents, Andrew Pope says:

Andrew Pope

"Is it possible for residents to be any more poorly represented, than their Conservative MP being unable to vote on who is to lead our country?

David Warburton remains a FAKE Independent MP. He was not elected as an Independent. He did not resign the Conservative Whip.

He had it taken it away from him because of the investigation.

Residents are being kept in the dark and not represented.

David Warburton should resign as an MP and a by-election should be triggered."
