What is Somerset Independents and What Does It Do?

Somerset Independents was formed by Somerset residents for Somerset residents.


Somerset Independents is a pressure group that:

1. protects Somerset residents, 
2. their democratic rights, 
3. their area and families, 
4. their ways of life and 
5. their environment.

It's written in our Constitution.


The biggest and most important issue facing Somerset residents is the Coronavirus / Covid-19 National Emergency and Global Pandemic.


It has affected us all.


It has affected:

1. our work, 
2. our health, 
3. our families and 
4. our rights.

We've all been told to stay home by the Government.


But did you know that the Government and local councils have worked to attack democracy too?

Westminster Parties Are Letting You Down

After dithering for months, in a matter of a few panic-stricken days, the Government pushed the Coronavirus Act 2020 through Parliament, putting in place a whole raft of decisions.


Across England and including in Somerset, some local councils decided to take away your democratic rights to have your say, without asking you.


Some of these decisions you might support (such as the stay home "lockdown"), but others you might not. If you did not know about what they decided, do you or would you care?

Somerset Independents is very sceptical about the Westminster MPs and the Westminster parties in local councils. And so are the majority of the public.

So Somerset Independents was formed to be independent of the Westminster parties.

Somerset deserves better than successive failing Governments.


So Somerset Independents has done its research and is calling out the Government and local councils.


And fought back for you.


Because we listen to Somerset residents.
